Bike Details
The bike is a Rally Raid stage 3 converted CB500X. Registered February 2016 on a “65” plate and has done 5,600 miles. This is the later model year with the revised gear selector and styling. I bought the bike for a trip on Balkans leg of the Trans European Trail last summer and she never missed a beat.
Make no mistake these are very capable machines. There’s a ton of info on them on ADV rider, but check out “motorcycle adventure dirt bike TV” or Juan Browne’s videos on YouTube. There’s also Jenny Morgan who did the TAT both ways on hers! http://www.advpulse.com/adv-bikes/cb…e-for-the-tat/
The first service was carried out by Honda on 08/11/16 and I did an oil and filter change just before the trip in June using OEM parts. It didn’t need doing but I look after my stuff. I have the receipt for the genuine Honda parts. I’ve just dropped the bike off at Vertu Honda in Nottingham today (25th) for a service next week. The tyres are the new Michelin Anakee Wilds and have covered 500 miles so she wants for nothing.
This is the full chicken dinner level 3 and has the following RR parts:
Remote preload adjuster. RRP 531 – £300.00
Scorpion low silencer. RRP 491 – £330.00
Renthal fat bars. RRP 484 – £79.50
Adjustable leavers. RRP 451 – £30.00
Engine guard. RRP 437 – 238.80
Solo rack mounts. RRP 444 – £30.00
Rear rack. RRP 445 – £105.60
Large foot rests. RRP – £97.20
Barkbuster hardware. RRP 494 – £81.00
Barkbuster Stormguard. RRP 498 – £34.00
Screen space Kit. RRP 429 – £14.40
Adv suspension kit. RRP 498 – £1,318.80
Level 3 wheels. RRP 458 – £958.80
Honda Rebel Clutch Cover – £39.00
Fork Gaiters – £19.00
That’s over £3,600 in parts and if you want Rally Raid to build it up then that’ll cost you another £800!
If I wanted to head off around the world then this is the bike I’d use. It’s great on fuel and the twin cylinder mill will sit happily at 75 / 80 all day long. The short wheel base is great off road and the super smooth power delivery is fantastic on loose surfaces. Honda build and reliability plus low parts cost and world wide availability make it the perfect RTW bike.
This one is also unique with the Canadian livery. The bike was a show bike used to promote a tour company in Canada using the RR bikes for Rocky Mountain tours. If you don’t like the transfers they can easily be removed.
Now the bike has been used off road so she’s obviously got some marks commensurate with use but she’s in great condition and benefits from being freshly serviced. I’ve also recently spent the best part of a day coating her in PTFE protectant.
No finance and the V5 is in my name. I have both keys and the Honda document wallet.
Given what a standard bike will set you back plus the cost of the Rally Raid parts I think £6,250 is a fair price for a very well sorted bike.
